Bush Aide Softened Greenhouse Gas Links to Global Warming

Published: June 8, 2005A White House official who once led the oil industry’s fight against limits on greenhouse gases has repeatedly edited government climate reports in ways that play down links between such emissions and global warming, according to internal documents.
Let me make sure I have this straight. They do let him make edits and revisions to documents that have already been approved and finalized by actual experts and even senior White House officials, but:
“We don’t put Phil Cooney on the record,” Ms. St. Martin said. “He’s not a cleared spokesman.”
How remarkably convenient. For the Petroleum Institute, I mean.
