Why is the NFL so quiet on Porter?

Okay, a question. Has it really been two days since Joey Porter called out the NFL with no response from the league aside from its announcement that yes, in fact, the refs really really fucked up? Surely we should have seen him keelhauled, poleaxed, drawn-and-quartered by now, right?

What does this mean?

  1. They know he’s right
I think they put their tail between their legs and are hoping this blows over. If the Colts win they don’t admit that call was wrong. Of course it’s the topic of every sports talk radio program so it’s not going away. They’ll give Porter a free pass for now, but i’m sure the media outlets will bait him into talking about it again, and this time when he blasts the refs the NFL will say, “enough.” Mike Sherman is coming to B-Lo tomorrow for an interview. That wouldn’t be a bad pick up as head coach.

  2. The NFL is keeping its mouth shut on this one, ‘cuz Porter will inevitably put his foot in his mouth by blurting out some inane comment — it’s tough to take this dude seriously, so the NFL probably figures they’ll play it cool and let people think that Porter is just shooting off his mouth, like he always does…
Remember these gems that Mr. Rhodes Scholar extraordinaire fired off last week BEFORE the Colts/Stillers game ?
“They don’t want to just sit there, line up and play football,” Porter told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “They want to try to catch you off guard. They don’t want to play smash-mouth football, they want to trick you. … They want to catch you substituting. Know what I mean? They don’t want to just call a play, get up there and run a play. They want to make you think. They want it to be a thinking game instead of a football game.”
Translation: I don’t feel like thinking, so what gives them the right to do so ? I just want to hurt someone…hurt someone real bad!
I guess Peyton Manning should just give the D the playbook, so the D doesn’t have to actually think about what the offense might do on th next play…
He called Edgerrin James’ 124 yards in the November game “a cheap 100,” and said the Colts couldn’t line up and run straight at the Steelers defense…..
Does that also imply that Jeff Reed kicks “cheap field goals”, since he’s a p*ssy and has offensive linemen blocking the defensive players who are trying to block his kicks and rip his leg off ?
    Another beauty from the wunderkid:
“I don’t think they outhit us…if they would have outhit us, they would have just lined up, and they wouldn’t have done all the audibles every play. If you want to outhit us, line up and play football. That’s when you outhit us. Line up, you get your people, we got our eight men in the box, run the ball.”
While you’re at it, Joey, why not have everyone take off their helmets and pads and play like “real men”… I mean, are you telling me you’re not man enough to survive having another dude blind side you with a horse-collar tackle ???
